Stephanie Gomes Hogan

It all started when my parents took me to see a Salem Witch Trial reenactment for my fourth birthday and I refused to leave without autographs and pictures with all the actors. The passionate exchange between the woman on trial and the man accusing her of witchcraft was the most thrilling thing I had ever seen. I was completely addicted and went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University where I received my BFA in Acting and then promptly moved to NYC. Since then, I have performed in numerous theaters (A.R.T./New York Theatre, Ars Nova, Bushwick Starr, Abrons Arts) and TV/Film (STAG, I Know Exactly How You Die) with renown industry professionals (Lynne Corbett-Taylor, Jeremy O’Harris). I have also written and produced my own work (Retract) and received awards and acclaim (Best Actress at Massachusetts Film Fest, SoHo International Film Fest).

I would describe myself as a dark comedy female lead who is tough but tender in the vain of Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Rec, The White Lotus) and Cristin Milioti (Black Mirror, The Penguin, Palm Springs). I’m drawn to intelligent, dry, realistic characters who have incredibly strong, unapologetic desires, even if it becomes their downfall. Whether rough or refined, I love playing complicated women who can be bold but have a raw vulnerability beneath the surface. And these women are always able to find the humor in any situation. I thrive on collaboration and am always eager to discuss plays, movies, TV shows, books, music, etc.

In addition to acting, I also greatly enjoy singing and constantly strive to challenge my vocal ability. I’m drawn to soulful singers such as Brandi Carlile, Rachel Price from Lake Street Dive, and Etta James. These women aren’t afraid to let their emotion take over when necessary and I am so inspired by their ferocity. Singing is definitely a healing practice for me.

I also coach all levels of actors/creatives at any stage. Whether you are just starting out, have an important callback or want to work through creating something on your own, I am here to help spark that creative passion with a fresh, encouraging perspective. Your artistry has a place in this business; let’s find it together. If you’d like to know more, please do not hesitate to reach out.
